Assessment for Learning

This workshop explores how formative assessment can be used to improve teaching and learning on a day-to-day basis.

The session will focus on:

• Writing and sharing clear learning intentions and success criteria
• Using effective questioning to check understanding and identify misconceptions
• Providing formative feedback that helps pupils understand their next steps
• Using mini-whiteboards, technology and mini-plenaries to assess learning
• Developing effective peer and self-assessment

Participants will gain practical approaches for using assessment to inform teaching, rather than simply measure attainment, and to help pupils become more active participants in their own learning.
